Controlling phone use without sacrificing children's safety

How Mobile Safe Zones stacks up

How the app works

Our School & Family app is a patented, geofence-based solution that gives schools a smarter alternative to usage or total bans.

When students enter campus, non-beneficial apps are disabled while critical features like 911, medical monitoring, and language/translation apps remain active at all times.  Other apps used for extra-curricular activities or classroom instruction may be programmed to activate at specific times or may remain active throughout the day as designated by the school administration.

In Cases of Emergency

Safety first. The biggest concern for all stakeholders - parents, schools, and legislatures - is the safety of our children. One of the advantages that cellphones have introduced for us is the ability to communicate with our children both routinely, and more importantly, in an emergency.  The Safe Zones app is designed to keep emergency communications such as 911, weather/fire alerts etc., open for your student at all times.

Day-to-day safety issues occur, such as an injury like someone falling down the stairs, or a medical emergency like having a seizure. Total bans do not allow that student to call for assistance, nor can a student that finds the injured person call for help.

In discussions with Law Enforcement leadership, it was noted that having a cell phone allows a student to contact emergency services when needed. Their worst-case scenario is a group of students isolated during an active shooter scenario or weather emergency, unable to call for help or receive direction from leadership. Total Bans (i.e., children that do not have access to their phones) eliminate this important safety communication link.

Safe Zones, via its patented Shutdown Switch (SDS), allows the school to immediately turn off all cellphone blocking within the school’s geofence and open up full communication for all students when an emergency ‘All Clear’ is declared by law enforcement or school administration. Phones are then unblocked instantly to allow full communication with parents and other loved ones.
